This summer I had the opportunity to shoot Jen and Trevor’s wedding. They had a lovely ceremony at the Grace Lutheran Church, followed by photos, and then a tea ceremony. Later we enjoyed a 12 course meal at Beijing Beijing. Jen and Trevor are such kind hearted people it was an honor to shoot their wedding. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day. Hope you enjoy! Also, thank-you to Scott Portingale for shooting with me that day.
Cheers,

Galien and Yukichi have been friends of my family for a very long time. I was so honoured to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding. They got married at the lovely Ranche in Calgary. The ceremony and reception were both at the Ranche and there were ample beautiful locations surrounding the area to take photos. Galien, Yukichi and their families are so creative that pretty much everything at this wedding was handmade. Galien’s dress was made by her sister Kalie, the cake was made by Galien’s mother Rebecca, and all the decorations were made by the family. They even had matcha tea from Japan as a wedding favor.
The speeches at this wedding were incredibly emotional. Yukichi’s parents flew in from Japan for the wedding. Because they don’t know a lot of english their speeches were in Japanese and then translated by Galien and Yukichi’s translator. I’m not a fan of public speaking and I can only imagine how nerve racking that must be to give a speech to a room full of people that don’t speak your language. Even I was having a hard time keeping a dry eye.
Needless to say I loved this wedding. Galien, Yukichi and their daughter Mae are very dear to my heart. But I will let the photos do the talking now. Hope you enjoy!

Throughout North American society, over the last few years, there has been a push to become a conscious consumer. We have been overwhelmed with the presence of words such as eco-friendly and “green,” fair trade, and a push to “live local.” While the conscious consumer philosophy is evident in all areas of consumerism, there is little discourse on the conscious consumer within the North American wedding industry.
Immersed in Edmonton’s wedding industry, High Culture and Taken by Talia believe in the conscious consumer philosophy which is inclusive of the following concepts: living local, fair trade, choosing to be environmentally friendly, selecting organic products, recycling, and picking sustainably made goods. Together, we understand that the choices we make in our day-to-day lives directly affect our society. As a multibillion-dollar industry, weddings highly affect our environment. When we first began to discuss the environmental impact of wedding celebrations, we immediately began to consider how to be “green,” but as we debated further, we decided that it is more significant to explore all areas of becoming a conscious consumer when planning a wedding. As we began our investigation, we quickly learned that there is little to no useful information readily available to the modern engaged couple who wishes to be conscious consumers, so we have decided to design a project through which we hope to provide you with details on how to make conscious and environmentally friendly decisions without depriving yourselves or compromising the quality of your event.
Our collaboration will include at least one tip per month on how to become a conscious consumer. Next week, we will discuss our initial reactions (mostly frustration and surprise!) to our preliminary research; we will share our early findings and why we believe it is critical to be a sensible consumer.
We look forward to going on this adventure with you!

A few weeks ago I photographed Krystle TJs engagement session out in Morinville. Even though there were tons of mosquitos Krystle and TJ weren’t the slightest bit bothered. These two were a pleasure to shoot and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in November! Hope you enjoy the photos.

You may recognize Colleen and Barry from their engagement session I shot a few months ago. They had a lovely wedding at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church followed by the reception at the Cloverdale Community Hall. Colleen and Barry were so easy going it was lovely to work with them again. Thanks to Kelly Mackay for second shooting. Hope you enjoy the photos!
Cheers,

Here are some of the engagement photos I took of Jen and Trevor a few weeks ago. Jen and Trevor were troopers as it was -30 degrees on the day of the shoot. We did some quick photos outside then we went to the library to warm up. Hope you enjoy the photos!
